How’d I Do?


I’m back from my road trip, and in terms of eating well, I honestly did not do as well as I had hoped. As I mentioned before I started my travels, I would be at the mercy of others for a lot of meals over the two-week period.

I did pretty well until the visit I documented here. That started a downward spiral that lasted until I arrived home.

Now, I don’t want you to think that I just gave up and gorged on whatever came to hand. But, after eating some things that were definitely not part of my food plan so as not to distress my relative, I allowed myself to tour a chocolate factory and an ice cream factory.


I was visiting family in Burlington, VT, home of Lake Champlain Chocolates and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. What can I say?

The good news is, after savoring a few wonderful chocolate truffles, I had eaten enough. I didn’t scoff down the whole box — something I have been known to do in the past. Also, I figure if I’m going to indulge in something like chocolate, it might as well be the good stuff — you know, real cocoa butter, cream, etc., not wax and artificial junk.

At least it sounds good, right?

I have to admit, I enjoyed every mouthful while it lasted.

Now that I’m home again, I’ll give myself a few days to readjust, then I’ll go back to the simpler meal plans of the The UltraSimple Diet and really get myself back on track.

In the meantime, here are some numbers:

Weight: gained back 1 pound
Inches: lost another 1-1/4. Go figure. . .
Fasting blood glucose: way up, at 127 this morning

Time to get serious again.
